Vowel Sounds: igh.ow (as in slow)

Note this set is included in the complete scheme (available here).

Get children writing stories as quickly as possible by helping them understand and enjoy the relationships between spoken sounds and written symbols (magic spells!).

Each phoneme is introduced progressively and placed immediately in the context of words that use phonemes that children have previously learned.

Handwriting is taught alongside phonics with resources included for both print and cursive styles of writing.

Included activities with this set:
– sound charts with initial mouth positions
– flashcards with guidance for sounds
– definitions for every word
– Wave Your Wand activities: Make a ‘word wand’ and then wave your wand in shapes that become ‘magic spells’
– Word Line games: Select a letter and then have a go at organising yourselves into a ‘word line’
– Word Maker: Develop fine motor skills and handwriting by cutting out phonemes and sticking them into place. Then having a go at writing words yourself
– Magic Shapes handwriting activities: Includes cursive and lowercase print resources using the same shapes as the ‘Wave Your Wand’ activities to support handwriting and fine motor skills. Each letter is broken down into simple shapes that can then be placed back together to create the complete letter shape
