Make a Punctuation Mark


Help students understand the purpose of punctuation by having a go at creating their own punctuation mark.

Examples are provided of old punctuation marks along with more recent ones like the ‘Love Point’ and the ‘Irony Mark’.

Further ideas can be found in the book: A Short History of English Writing and Punctuation which can be printed as a class display to help stimulate further ideas.
